This is a scientific, pragmatic, united, and harmonious conference. Our colleagues in the Yi world should adhere to the application of General Secretary Hu Jintao's 'Scientific Outlook on Development' to study, research, and apply Yi studies. Since its inception, Yi studies have been divided into two major theoretical systems: one is the Yi theory system, and the other is the Image and Number system. The Yi theory system belongs to social sciences, while the Image and Number system belongs to natural sciences. But whether it is Yi theory or Image and Number, both are sciences. As sciences, they should be studied and applied according to scientific principles. Only by adhering to scientific principles in researching, applying, promoting, and propagating Yi studies can the Yi事业 develop healthily. If Yi studies are researched and used contrary to scientific principles, turning them into mysticism, superstition, or tools for deception and fraud, the Yi事业 will be pushed to the brink of collapse. Upholding General Secretary Hu Jintao's 'Scientific Outlook on Development' in studying, applying, and promoting Yi studies means that we Yi scholars must uphold the 'scientific' viewpoint, strictly distinguish between genuine Yi studies and pseudo-Yi studies, promote and develop scientific Yi studies, and criticize and discard pseudoscientific Yi studies. We should protect, cultivate, and promote Yi scholars who study, apply, and promote Yi studies scientifically, and eliminate those who use the banner of Yi studies to deceive and cheat from the Yi community. Only in this way can the Yi事业 develop in a healthy and orderly manner.
