Reflecting shapes means correcting oneself. Classics are used to unify the mind. Unifying the mind means deeply hiding it within. To pursue the distant is to approach the Way. To hold onto the ancient is to govern the present. Holding onto the ancient Way is to govern the present existence.
In ancient times, Fuxi ruled the world, drew the Eight Trigrams, created the Book of Contracts, rectified surnames and clans, marking the beginning of culture and the creation of texts. The 'Three Cemeteries' teach the Great Way; the Three Cemeteries are the writings of Fuxi, Shennong, and the Yellow Emperor. Teachings, explanations. The 'Five Classics' demonstrate pure virtue; the Five Classics are the writings of Shao Wu, Zhuanxu, Emperor Ku, Tang Yao, and Yu Shun. Pure virtue, great goodness. The 'Eight Summaries' seek high righteousness; the Eight Elements are texts about Taoist three essences, three transformations, and two conversions. High righteousness, the Great Way. The 'Nine Hills' embody broad benevolence; the Nine Hills are ancient geographical texts. The遗书 of ancient emperors, the nine ribs of Yuan River, are hard to find. I cannot observe them, nor can I continue to complete them. To continue, to inherit and perfect one's nature. Who can calm my mind? How painful it is! Only those who deeply cultivate ancient texts and thoroughly plant old classics, explore mysteries and seek hidden meanings, exhale profound depths. Seek, to obtain. Hidden, to capture darkness. Hook deep and reach far, just to comfort oneself; what can be done?!
