The 'Tui Bei Tu' is said to have been created during the Zhen Guan era of the Tang Dynasty, when Emperor Taizong Li Shimin ordered astronomer Li Chunfeng and diviner Yuan Tiangang to calculate the fate of the Great Tang. However, after examination by later generations, the 'Tui Bei Tu' is found to be a work that has been continuously revised by people from various dynasties. The currently popular version with annotations attributed to Jin Shengtan is essentially a forgery by 'Qingxi Sanren' from the Republican era (1915). The title 'Tui Bei Tu' is derived from the ode in the 60th image (the last hexagram), which states 'Countless words cannot fully describe it; better to push back and retire.' The entire book contains predictions by two master forecasters about significant events in the Tang Dynasty and subsequent dynasties. The Tui Bei Tu arranges its images according to the 64 hexagrams of the 'Zhou Yi' (Book of Changes), matching the Heavenly Stems and Earthly Branches, cycling through the sequence of Jiazi, Yichou, and so on, totaling sixty images. Each image is numbered according to the stems and branches and mainly includes: a hexagram, an illustration, a prophecy, and a 'song' or poetic ode, totaling four parts. It predicts future prosperity and chaos.
